Daniel Tumiwa to become OLX Indonesia’s CEO
Outlet media is currently reporting about the appointment of Daniel Tumiwa, previously Garuda Indonesia’s VP Digital Business, as the new OLX Indonesia’s CEO, effective per April this year. It’s not the first time Tumiwa gets in touch with Naspers’ companies, as he was once Multiply Indonesia’s Country Manager.
Around four years ago, Tumiwa was appointed as Multiply Indonesia’s chairman, as the company was brought to Indonesia from Florida by the South Africa-based Naspers. Two years were all it took before Naspers finally switched their interest to Tokobagus which possessed mouth-watering traction back then.
In brief, two Tokobagus’ Founders resigned, Tokobagus pivoted into OLX Indonesia, and the team merged with Berniaga by the beginning of this year. Tumiwa, who’s also idEA’s Chairman, got the second opportunity to manage a Naspers’. This time, the pressure gets tighter as OLX is expected to be the leader of C2C segment.
The CEO is a crucial position that may bring the company into power as the leader of Indonesian C2C segment. Now, it’s interesting to see whether OLX Indonesia can be like eBay in the U.S under Daniel Tumiwa or not.
