Disdus Now Owns Groupon.co.id Domain

As part of Groupon’s acquisition on Disdus, official domain http://groupon.co.id at the moment is already forwarded to Disdus front page. Before the acquisition, the link was forwarded to Groupon Singapore.

Other than that there’s annoying pop up appear asking us to register our email first and it can’t be closed unless you submit your email or click the link that said you’ve submit your email previously to Disdus’ subscription list.

Even though nothing much has changed on the front page, you can see some cities added to their list. Now they have more than just Jakarta and Bandung, they also have Surabaya, Bali, Yogya and Medan. Especially for Bali, I am assuming that the promotion applied for the entire island, including cities outside of Denpasar (Bali Province’s Capital), considering Bali is name of an Island, not a single city.

Even so, for those additional cities there’s no deals information available yet, and visitors are asked to register their email so that they can be informed once deals information in those cities are active. Previously, expansion to other cities in Indonesia was indeed part of Disdus / Groupon Indonesia’s short term plan this year.

Disdus acquisition is part of the Groupon expansion in South East Asia. Previously Groupon bought Groupsmore in Malaysia and Beenomics in Singapore. The slightly different thing between those websites at the moment is unlike Disdus they use their own logo and favicon. In the future there should be identity change, using similar identity as part of Groupon global network. Of course other than that we also expect more deals, quantity-wise, and more interesting promotions.
