Founder Institute Graduate Wujudkan Crowdfunds Creative Projects
Sanny Gaddafi, a Director of Jakarta Founder Institute, in startuplokal mailing list explained that basically this is a crowdfunding website for a project. At this stage, Wujudkan has put one project online; a film by notable Indonesian filmmaker Riri Riza and producer Mira Lesmana.
As explained in the FAQ, Wujudkan also provides opportunities for the members to become creators and create the project. Projects that may be submitted should relate to the creative industry. Creators (members) who wish to submit a creative idea or come up with a project can fill out the form on this page by adding photos and videos so Wujudkan's team of curators have a better understanding of the proposed idea.
After passing the selection (prior to raising funds), creators will get a page in Wujudkan.com to prepare for their project page such as information, photos, videos, etc. Furthermore creator must specify the fundraising target, which will be useful to the member (as fans) who wants to donate. The fundraising target limitation is maximum three months.
If the raised funds matches the target, Wujudkan will take a 5% commission as well as the banking fees. If the target isn't matched within the allocated time, Wujudkan will return the money minus bank fees.
The creators are also required to prepare the rewards that would be given to their project supporters. The rewards are expected to be as attractive as possible and could be given in different levels based on the donation. Gift-reward is provided by the creators and it should be included in the target funds planning.
Wujudkan also ensures originality of creators' idea. As explained on the site, the rights to a body of work is protected as soon as it is published, including being published at Wujudkan. However, Wujudkan cannot guarantee that an idea will not be copied. If you as a creator discovered that your idea was copied by someone else, or that you discovered that a project has violated someone else's intellectual property rights, you can contact Wujdukan for further investigation. In an article near the end of last year, DailySocial wrote about predictions on startups that will be popular in 2012. User-generated content is said to be one of the categories that will rise and by taking the crowdfunding approach, Wujudkan certainly falls into this category.
