Grab and Sinar Mas Land Formed Strategic Partnership for "Digital Smart City" in BSD City
Starts from the development of more accurate mapping system
Grab and Sinar Mas Land officially formed a strategic partnership for the development of integrated smart digital city in BSD City. Grab will be the technology partner in the region by introducing the latest innovations in line with the solution in connectivity and mobility.
Through the MoU signing, today (3/4), will be the beginning of other collaborations between Grab and Sinarmas Group. In the ocassion, attended also Michael Widjaja as Sinar Mas Land Group CEO with Anthony Tan as Grab's CEO and Co-Founder.
In fact, Grab's investment for this partnership is said to include in Grab for Indonesia 2020 master plan worth of US$700 million and Grab Ventures with US$250 million.
"Indonesia is still in a big challenge of connectivity and mobility. There are lots of homework to do. Sinar Mas Land acquire experts in technology to facilitate BSD residents can get through daily activity," Donny Rahayu, Sinar Mas Land's Managing Director said.
Grab's company, is in line with BSD City's plan for digital smart city transformation. Where, the effort has been initiated since the city was built 30 more years ago. One of the already developed technology by Sinar Mas Land is OneSmile app, and it's to be integrated with Grab.
Grab Indonesia's President Director, Ridzki Kramadibrata added, there are three initiatives to do in BSD City. The most recent is running the mapping method of BSD City area to make it easier for passengers to decide the pickup and delivery points more accurately.
Later, to run trial of Personal Mobility Devices (PMD) which can be a close-distance personal transportation vehicle at affordable costs. Finally, conducting pilot mobility sharing solutions in the BSD City area.
"In the transportation technology, there are many kinds of mobility, intracity can be given as shuttle in the new way. There's also feeder, but everything in new technology with better objective for customers," he added.
Ridzki said PMD has been through trial and trusted in Singapore with GrabWheels service using e-scooter. They're partner with National University of Singapore (NUS) for student transportation.
In BSD City, Grab is to build Grab Innovation and Engineering Lab as the as the center of research and innovation development in GOP 9, BSD City, using artificial intelligence to create smart and organized transportation system. It's located in the same building with Apple.
In addition, Grab will create Grab Ventures Velocity program in BSD City for training and mentoring for selected startups. They've given opportunity to develop business and collaborate in Grab app. It was said, BSD City is the first integrated smart digital city in Indonesia on the right location for the program.
Aside from solution for transportation, both companies are supporting local culinary-based SMEs in the region by creating satellite kitchen called Kitchen by Grab Food.
"In every super app outside transportation modes, Grab wants to empower more SMEs with their technology. Because technology can make better productivity, also broader market access."
Kitchen by GrabFood concept was first introduced in September 2018 located in Kedoya, West Jakarta. In this concept, Grab provides food court for selected culinary SMEs and focuses on take away service for every order from GrabFood
