HijUp Secured Another Seed Funding, Worth Million of Dollars

Moslem fashion e-commerce service HijUp announced that its has just secured a second round of seed funding, worth seven digit USD ($1-9 million or more than Rp 13 billion) from a group of investors consist of Fenox Capital, 500 Startups, and local media conglomerate EMTEK. This was the startup’s second one in the past six months.

According to the information received by DailySocial, the funding will be allocated to build better infrastructure (system) and enhance its human resources so that the team may accommodate more users. Fenox Capital and 500 Startups also joined the previous funding round.

HijUp’s Foundera and CEO Diajeng Lestari stated, “This (funding) is Eid’s grace for HijUp. We’ve managed our consumer growth very well, but this investment will help us to be more aggressive in marketing. We’re on the path of making Indonesia as the center of world’s Muslim fashion.”

Currently, HijUp has had more than 200 Muslim fashion brands and this funding round will support HijUp’s global expansion. HijUp claimed that other than Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Australia, The U.S, England, and numerous European countries also become contributor of high traffic it enjoys.

About EMTEK’s involvement as HijUp’s new investor, Kreatif Media Karya (KMK)’s CEO Adi Sariaatmadja commented, “We believe that the demand for Muslim fashion will keep increasing, including the increase of contributors from Indonesia. We are highly positive that we have the right partner, HijUp, to bring this up to everyone.”

Meanwhile, Khailee Ng of 500 Startups added, “When we first invested (at HijUp), we knew that they can be something big. We just didn’t expect it to happen this soon! That’s why we facilitate (them) with more money, to maintain this good performance!”
