MediaCorp Acquired 52% of KapanLagi Network’s Shares
Indonesian KapanLagi Network (KLN) has been officially acquired by Singapore-based MediaCorp. In the press release we received today (24/4), MediaCorp bought 52% of KLN’s shares, who owns kapanlagi.com and merdeka.com.
The acquisition process marks a massive step for both parties. MediaCorp is a multi-platform media which covers all Asia, while KLN is one of important players in the digital media industry in Indonesia. It does make sense to see the partnership later adds more values to consumers in Asia, as well as presents alternative solutions for advertisers who look for new approaches in getting along with consumers and customer-to-be.
“I’m really happy to have KLN growing and becoming the most prominent digital media in the region. In the past three years, I see KLN has grown from a startup into one of leading independent online platforms in Indonesia. Since the very beginning, our objective has always been to design products which may affect the public, even those outside our market. I’m glad to learn that such ambition has directed KLN into this strategic partnership with MediaCorp. MediaCorp is a partner with strong content and platform capacity, as well as the commitment to keep innovating for consumers and the public,” stated KLN’s CEO Steve Christian in the press release we received.
So far, KLN has secured around 40 million visits ini a month, and 450 million views of the videos uploaded into its services like kapanlagi.com and merdeka.com. This achievement is impressive enough for MediaCorp who looks to strengthen ite presence in the industry.
MediaCorp’s CEO Shaun Seow described that the vast growth of digital shopping in Indonesia has opened tons of new valuable opportunities. He also complimented KLN whom he regarded as being successful enough in producing and distributing digital content in Indonesia.
He said, “Today’s announcement strengthens MediaCorp’s ability to reach valuable opportunities in the midst of vast shifting media industry. In past few years, we have positioned MediaCorp as a company that regards consumers above everything as well as serve access to unique, innovative, and attractive content in various forms of platform.”
“Digital media enthusiasts in Indonesia grow in no time and it’s a mouth-watering opportuinity for KLN. I’m really impressed with how the company develops and distrubutes the content, as well as develops their business rapidly,” Seow concluded.
