Tokopedia and Pegadaian Officially Launches "Tokopedia Emas" for Selling Gold

Provide investment disburse in the form of cash and gold in all Pegadaian branches

Tokopedia introduces partnership with Pegadaian by launching "Tokopedia Emas" feature. It gives opportunity for users to buy and sell gold online, replacing the previous partnership with Orori.

Starts from 500 rupiah, users can invest in gold commodity. There are some membership levels based on the transaction requirements, Gold Club, Gold Prime, and Gold Prestige.

"Our partnership with Tokopedia is due to the same vision and mission to facilitate public to invest in gold bar through saving account," PT Pegadaian's Director of Marketing & Product Development, Harianto Widodo.

Tokopedia's Co-Founder & Vice Chairman, Leontinus Alpha Edison added, "As we, a state-owned company, see Pegadaian as very relevant to be Tokopedia's partner. It starts with gold saving, later, there might be some new features to introduce."

The system used in Tokopedia Emas product is under OJK (Financial Service Authority). Pegadaian ensures all products are insured. The transaction process is quite easy. Customers should only add a total purchased gold in grams or rupiah, and make payment as shopping in Tokopedia.

"We're currently provide direct pick-up for customers who want to print their savings into physical form [gold bar] in all Pegadaian branches. In mid 2019, we're planning to form partnership with third party logistics for home delivery," he said.

Tokopedia and Pegadaian claim the disbursement to be real-time. It's the leading ability of Tokopedia Emas. In addition, customers can also print their savings into jewelry. In terms of certificate, they can have it through Pegadaian.

Having established less than a month, Tokopedia Emas is claimed to have total customers with significant increase up to three times.

"Through partnership with Tokopedia, Pegadaian is expected to acquire more millennials which already registered in Tokopedia," he added.
