TourExplora Tries To Be A Marketplace For Travel Agents
If you like to travel, this startup might be perfect for you. Along side with the growth of Indonesian people's appetite for travelling and supported by the growing interest on visiting Indonesia, TourExplora launches it's marketplace for travel agents to sell travel packages.
Remember those days where you have to visit numerous travel agents' offices or websites to compare which package is suitable for your group travel? I remember, and it's a painful thing to do. This is exactly the problem TourExplora trying to solve. You can just visit their website which basically pools all the big travel agents and look for suitable packages according for your needs.
TourExplora basically acts like a marketplace where travel agents can upload their travel packages to the site currently for free but Director Dicky Johan said that they will soon charge fee based on quota for travel packages. More travel packages uploaded, the more you pay. Fair and square.
TourExplora also provide you with tourist destination, attractions, reviews from users, and of course photos. Johan stated that they will focus on getting more and more travel agents to join, it's more of a B2B business rather than B2C. It's a logical move because the leisure market in Indonesia is already growing fast and organic, they don't really need to do anything with it except to direct them to the right agent.
They're also planning to add a feature where you can see the "social stream" of user's reviews, places and packages. Unfortunately, the back-end of the service is not as sophisticated as you might think. Usually these kind of website will host the communication between travel agents and customer, or including payments where they can also monetize. TourExplora doesn't have this, they will simply let travel agents and customers to communicate via email.
Old school stuff.
