Working with Microsoft, ASEAN Foundation Will Train Young Entrepreneurs in Four Indonesian Provinces
ASEAN Foundation will hold an information technology and communication workshop for young entrepreneur in four provinces in Indonesia, namely West Sumatra, West Java (Bandung), North Sulawesi and West Nusa Tenggara. This program is organized with the support of Microsoft.
Other than Indonesia, the program will also be held in four other cities in three ASEAN countries, namely Bangkok and Chiang Mai (Thailand), Manila City (The Philippines) and Hanoi (Vietnam). Those four countries were chosen because they are considered as having the interest, IT infrastructure, local partners and content development.
This training program aims to empower young generation to be able to start a business and create opportunity independently. This program aims to reach around 20,000 young entrepreneurs aged 16 - 25. This program contains various training sessions which will be conducted over a two year period.
The implemented training program will include e-business incubation program. In this program, chosen participants will receive assistance to implement information technology and communication device as marketing tools in their business operations. In addition to incubation, the training will also include the Information Technology and Communication curriculum development and training for ICT community trainers.
In this program, Microsoft is providing USD 300,000 in aid. According to Tracey Fellows, President of Microsoft Asia Pacific, through this partnership Microsoft wants to empower young people to start their own businesses or create their own opportunities. Microsoft's participation in this program is due to its belief that technology has the ability to improve the standard living and social and economic development in every country.
