Another Travel Site, PegiPegi to Launch Soon

Gonla isn't the only travel site looking for attention today. We also learned that PegiPegi.com will take the field in the online travel war. Claiming to be  “Indonesia Best Online Travel Reservation Site”, PegiPegi’s current front page is filled with a number of promotional campaigns to win a trip to Bali and a voucher to stay at a 5 star hotel in Jakarta. It only asks for your email address for participation. This type of campaign seems to be effective if we consider that Tiket.com ran a similar campaign for a trip to Bali when it launched late last year.

We have not yet gathered much information about PegiPegi aside from the fact that it is part of AMG (Alternative Media Group). AMG’s well-known business is Focus Media Indonesia which places advertisements at various buildings in Jakarta using LCD screens. At the recent Java Jazz Festival, the group opened a booth and was already promoting PegiPegi. Generally, PegiPegi would be an alternative traveling site, especially for hotel reservation in various places in Indonesia.

The public interest in traveling in 2012 is indeed remarkable. This obviously was immediately responded by the appearance of startups offering the most affordable travel costs. Surely, natural selection will take its course in determining which traveling startup could give the best service. PegiPegi might be a serious contender.
