Go-Jek Tops Indonesian App Store's Free Apps List

In the middle of social media-based app domination, Go-Jek reaches a milestone as the most popular free app on iOS. According to Indonesian App Store’s Top Charts, which summarizes the trend, Go-Jek is currently more popular than global apps like BBM, Line, or Instagram. This could be the best spot that a local app could have at App Store.

All this time, social media and games always dominate the Top Charts in Indonesia. Thus, Go-Jek’s accomplishment is a real surprise. Besides Go-Jek, Traveloka and Tokopedia are local apps in top 40.

Go-Jek, which gets an undisclosed funding from NSI Ventures, has just inaugurated a new managerial office in Kemang. The company has successfully inspired many people to join the team as one of drivers. At the moment, there are approximately 10 thousand "ojek" drivers work under Go-Jek.

It’s safe to say that Go-Jek is currently the hottest startup in Indonesia. The negative issues that surround the service, its partnership with the local government of DKI Jakarta, and Nadiem Makarim’s presence as a representative of creative entrepreneurs in Indonesian Convention Exhibition (ICE) support that premise.

Unfortunately, Go-Jek’s popularity on Android isn’t as significant as on iOS, as it “only” occupied the 19th spot in the free app list at Google Play. The only local app that sits above Go-Jek in Android platform is Bima-X.
