Groupon Indonesia Stops Offering Shopping Deals

Amir Karimuddin - 5 October 2015

Groupon Indonesia confirmed that it has stopped offering shopping deals on its website. The company, which was formed after Disdus acquisition, claimed that it still offers vouchers of restaurant, health and lifestyle, and travel, though. The team stated that their focus would be on building the largest local market, which we assume to be in the form of marketplace.

Back in its glory days, which was during 2011-2012, Groupon Indonesia was the most prominent daily deals provider in Indonesia. Unfortunately, consumers tend to prefer online marketplace within the past year, as it’s regarded to be more secure and well-established.

We’re not sure about the issues faced by this shopping deals segment, but the forementioned shutting down indicates that both merchants and consumers support this business model no more.
