Hackerspace Bandung Moved into New Location

Hackerspace Bandung (HackerspaceBDG) is officially moved  their location. Previously DailySocial readers know HackerspaceBDG location’s is at Taman Sari 3, now the new location is at Jalan Rereng Wulung 33, Sukaluyu, Bandung - Jawa Barat, Indonesia.

Moving notice has also been announced on their official blog. The colleagues there also had to move their goods to a new place.

Although all items including chairs and tables had been moved, but co-working space with the code name HackerspaceBDG v.2 (HSbdg v.2) is still in the final stages of renovation so the office activities as well as public space can't be used for the moment. By early February it's expected to be active and accessible again by people who want to hire both dedicated space and the general public.

HackerspaceBDG is basically a co-working space (non profit), currently filled by several freelancers, creative workers as well as those who have their own web studio, developer, author and startup founder. This is a workspace run by community-based as open space thus for the general public or anyone who wants to come, work, discuss, exchange ideas and join community can also come. People can come to work or just to greet each other with creative workers and it's not being restricted to digital technology, but also to other subject/field.

The rooms available at the new place are wider. Of course it is quite fun, at least for me because the space to hold events and to hang out with other colleagues become wider. On the other hand, the work space is becoming spacious and it could accommodate a colleague who wanted to rent dedicated-space for more. It means the community can be more expansive.

In this new place, as described by Yohan Totting (one of the HackerspaceBDG and Fowab initiators) in HackerspaceBDG official blog, the plan is to equip with facilities that previously didn't exist in the old place. Some facilities (in addition to tables and chairs) are a broader public space, testing devices, refreshing room, kitchen, bathroom, private parking, internet and public transportation-friendly location.

Some of the above facilities are now available, but some are still being developed and require additional funding. HSbdg v.2 is open to the sponsors who want to support, either financial or other facilities. HSbdg v.2 is also open to other friends who want to give support by making a donation (with a crowdfund process). Later on HackerspaceBDG will write the name, Twitter account and an avatar on the public spaces walls and HackerspaceBDG site. Full details can be viewed here.

Yohan and several other colleagues, including me also plan to jazz up HSbdg v.2 with a variety of activities including updating the blog more regularly (with a variety of exciting stories), discussions or other themes that occur in HackerspaceBDG.

HackerspaceBDG now also has a partnership with CHIP magazine by filling one column each month. Hopefully later on there are a variety of other activities including, workshops and offline discussions.

In this new area, Sukaluyu, there are also several studios as well as other communities, such as PetShopBox Studio, Kummara and Invictus, and several other studios. Hopefully the proximity to various studios or other communities would also open additional opportunities. Who knows it could be Sukaluyu Valley one day.

Let's wait a variety of information and other developments including the positive activities of HackerspaceBDG. Other information can be viewed on the blog or Twitter account. Currently there are around 10 dedicated spaces has been filled, there are remaining five spaces available. If you are interested you may contact Yohan via email at tyohan@thinkrooms.com.

Disclosure: DailySocial – Bandung branch office is located in HackerspaceBDG and the refreshing room at HSbdg v.2 sponsored by a blog game where i'm one of the co-founder.
