Tiket Indonesia Launches "Indonesia Flight" Android App To Help Domestic Travellers Book Flights

Today, ticketing startup Tiket.com launches an Android app that running on top of its API, and its called "Indonesia Flight". As the name suggests, the app aims to help travellers get information on flights including price, schedules and even book the flight through the app.

The beta app is fuelled by Tiket.com's data from which they get from 6 domestic airline partners providing them with real-time availability information and price rates. According to the press release they send, Indonesia Flight Apps' end-to-end Online Booking engine also enables users to pay directly using KlikBCA & Bank Transfer which will instantly issue the tickets. These steps are taken to ensure there's no more confirmation call and manual tickets issuing. Which can be pretty irritating.

Generally speaking, the app is fully functional and works seamlessly. You can search flights, book them and pay them directly from the app. The only annoying part of the app, is the unnecessary advertising spot in the bottom of the app. I can't seem to figure out why would Tiket.com want to make revenue from its mobile app while sacrificing the user experience and the fact that the ad spot actually displays their competitors' brands.

They make money from the transactions made on the app, the ad must go.

It also surprises me that Tiket.com decided to build a separate app for their flight data API and not include the other components such as movie theatres, concerts and might as well call the app "Tiket for Android". But for whatever reason, Tiket.com need to launch an app with complete support for the web version's feature on mobile. Their full desktop version is very helpful, their next step should be porting the same function and experience to its mobile apps.

Since launched last May, Tiket.com has been attracting new users with its amazingly simplified service to book everything from flights, trains, movie tickets, music concerts and hotels. The startup just got nominated at INAICTA 2012, the technology innovation competition run by the Ministry of Communications and Informatics.

You want to try the app, click here and download it for free from Google Play Store.
