Viber Launched “Public Chats” to Facilitate Inter-Communities Discussion

It’s not a secret that Indonesian market of instant messaging service is very tempting. Viber, lured by the attraction, attempts to have a bite on the market by introducing its latest feature called the “Viber Public Chats” yesterday (19/11).

The feature allows users to overlook any interaction and interesting discussion of various communities live on their mobile. It becomes a perfect addition to a fleet of features provided by Viber, such as sets of stickers, free HD quality phone calls, and Push-To-Talk, not to mention traditional functions of messaging services like texting and image, video, and location sharing.

“The launching of Public Chats allows people communicating in a brand new method, following live discussion and keeping up-to-date to exclusive content from subjects that matter the most to them,” Talmon Marco, Viber’s CEO, stated.

Aboutthe exclusive content, Viber invites public figures and brands that are well-known to many Indonesians, like DailySocial and Trenologi in the tech segment, to take part. In the travel segment, there is DuaRansel, a blog of a married couple who love to travel around the world.

For those who are attracted to literature, Viber features Aulia Halimatussadiyah (Ollie), an entrepreneur and writer who has published 25 books, and Windi Ariestanty who represents Gagas Media Group publishing company.

In video game and digital entertainment segment, users can find the Public Chat of Tinker Game and Own Games mobile game developers. There are also the largest photography community Fotografer.net, music webzine Deathrockstar, the dynamic duo Bottlesmoker, and many others.

In the future, the future may be another way for newly developed startups to promote themselves and their services. As a matter of fact, we’ve just received an encouraging information stating that at the moment, Viber, which is compatible with desktop, Windows 8, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and Nokia, has had 311 public chats which have been followed by 40.000 users worldwide only 8 hours after the feature was launched.
