1. Startup

And The Winner Is...

In late December we opened the opportunity for all readers to vote who deserve to earn the title "CEO/ Founder of the Year 2011" and also "Startup of the Year 2011". The response was incredible, even Tentukan.com, the service that we picked as the voting platform had some trouble keeping up with the traffic.

Well, we finally have chosen the winners for both categories. The nominees competed for two awards "People's Vote" and "Editor's Choice". The winners are based on popular votes by the readers and deliberation by DailySocial editors.

And the winners are:

People's Choice CEO/Founder of the Year is Denny Santoso, CEO/Founder of SixReps. Denny has successfully led several companies relating to pharmacy. He’s very close with the customers/members and he has brought one of his companies, SixReps, from Malang to enter the International market. His efforts should be appreciated considering SixReps may become the first local Internet startup that goes International. Denny won by taking an overwhelming majority of the votes, 93.04%, and almost took down the servers for Tentukan.com. ;)

Editor's Choice CEO/Founder of the Year is Arief Widhiyasa from Agate Studio. Agate is one of the largest local game development companies in Indonesia which has produced many local games. Based in Bandung, Agate has established a partnership with large technology companies such as Microsoft and Nokia. Arief is still very young and he's already successfully built the company from his a hobby into a serious business. His company is very productive in launching games with "Indonesian flavor".

And now we go to the Startup of the Year 2011. This category is the fiercest. The votes between the nominees were very close and there was a fierce debate between DailySocial editors in determining who should receive the award. In the end, the winner is ...

People's Choice Startup of the Year is NgaturDuit. This startup, like its name, helps you manage your finances online. NgaturDuit is a SparxUp Awards 2011 winner and a niche product that has accumulated a significant user base. NgaturDuit won by having 40.25% of the votes ahead of NightSpade with 38%.

Editor's Choice Startup of the Year is Touchten, a gaming company that recently received investment from Ideosource. Touchten is the company that develop games specifically for iOS platforms (iPhone, iPod, and iPad). This company has been producing a lot of popular games in the International market and also some local flavored applications. In a number of countries, games made by Touchten have went on to become top apps in the App Store several times.
