BlackBerry Indonesia's Marketing Head, Eka Anwar, Joins Bakrie Telecom As Chief Marketing
After over a year, BlackBerry Indonesia's Marketing Director, Eka Anwar, is said to leave the Canada-based company to join local telco company, Bakrie Telekom (BTEL), according to Indotelko. Anwar will officially join BTEL since Monday, April 15th 2013 yesterday. This move is also confirmed by BTEL's spokesperson Aurellius Noorman Iljas.
Anwar has been in the mobile industry since 2006 and considered one of the most influential person in the telco scene. Anwar started his career in Nokia Indonesia as Marketing Manager and recognised to popularise Nokia's N-Series in Indonesia, highest in the world at the time. He then joined Samsung and recognised to boost the popularity of Galaxy Tab in the country.
His move to BTEL is rather surprising considering the rumor in the market that BTEL is having serious financial difficulties after booking over $300 million loss in 2012, jumped significantly from their $80 million loss in 2011. Nevertheless, some sources said that BTEL is undergoing a financial restructuring in order to give space for the company to innovate and grow their product base.
