Event Report: Grand Final Chip-Nokia Mobile Game Developer War 2011 and List of Winners

After competition and elimination process in Bandung, Jogja, and Jakarta, Chip-Nokia Mobile Game Developer War held its grand final on Saturday June 4, 2011 at fX Mall starting on 10am. Over 200 people attended the event.

Competition held by CHIP and Nokia, supported by Agate Studio, DigiGames and HotGame was started by prize giving to Jakarta regional winners, followed by opening speech from Haryati Lawidjaja, Nokia Indonesia Head of Service and Elwin Siregar, Director of PT Gramedia Majalah.

This final stage was a war zone for 9 teams of: Team Dramit – School Escape, Team Hantu Digital – Hantu Digital, Team Dongskar Pedongi – Bhineka Tunggal Ika, Team OMG – Arjuna Sang Pemanah, Team Enlight Games Studio – Waroeng Ekspres, Team Sate – Too Much Satay, Team Anonim – Malin Kundang, Team Omah Games – Nakula Sadewa and Team Aksanesia – Aksara.

Like usual, the finalists were asked to present and demonstrate their mobile game in front of a panel of judges. The judges were: Sandra Dewi, Narenda Wicaksono (Nokia), Wicak Hidayat (Detikinet.com), Adhit (Hot Game), Bayu Widhiatmoko (CHIP) and Andri Yadi. Out of the 9 finalists, 3 grand finalists were chosen:

1. Team Dramit: School Escape – Jurit Malam (Night Haunting)
2. Team OMG: Arjuna Sang Pemanah (Arjuna the Archer)
3. Team Enlight Games Studio: Waroeng Ekspress – Jawa

The judges gave those 3 finalists new challenges, input and ideas, and they have exactly one hour to do live coding, trying to fulfill all that. For example, Team Dramit was asked to add more weapons for the enemy character and other stuffs that can be used as weapons for the main character.

After live coding, the teams were back on stage to present and demonstrate their improved mobile game (according to the judges’ request or target). After listening to their presentation, the second panel of judges: Maretha Dewi (Nokia) Arief Widhiyasa (Agate), Rhesa Surya (DigiGames), Edi Taslim (Kompas.com), Wiku Baskoro (DailySocial) and Firstman Marpaung (NICE) chose the winner for this Mobile Game Developer War and they are:

1^st Place: Team Dramit – School Escape 2: Jurit Malam (Night Haunting), grand prize of Rp 30 million cash.

2^nd Place: Team Enlight Games Studio – Waroeng Express - Jawa, received Rp 20 million cash.

3^rd Place: Team OMG – Arjuna Sang Pemanah (Arjuna the Archer), received Rp 10 million cash.
