Guvera #Play Offers Ad-Supported Streaming Radio Service

In responding to the consumer demand for free music streaming services, Guvera, the music streaming service from Australia, officially introduced its latest feature called Guvera #Play on Tuesday, (15/7). This feature allows music fans to enjoy free and unlimited access to millions of songs legally. Nevertheless, do not be surprised if you find various inserted ads inside the service.

Officially launched on Tuesday (15/7) at Guvera's office in Senopati, South Jakarta, #Play is Guvera’s take on the free music service. According to Guvera Indonesia's marketing director Dian Nur Farida, after having launched the paid version of Guvera in the country six months ago, the demand for free music remained high, which is why Guvera #Play was introduced.

“We did a survey and as it turned out, most of our users want free music. So, our response to that was Guvera #Play. Overall this is still an unlimited music service, difference is there are ads to support our business needs as well as complying with royalty requirements, while still offering a free service to out customers", Dian said during the launch.

She added that the advertisements in Guvera #Play are presented in three different types, display ad, audio ad, and video ad. For audio and video, the ads will be inserted in between track changes. "The experience of listening to Guvera #Play would be just the same as listening to a regular radio station,” Dian said. To attract advertisers, Guvera Indonesia is working with media placement agencies Starcom and Mindshare.

Guvera #Play works just like a radio where consumers can listen to millions of songs curated by Guvera's music directors. Unlike Guvera Platinum, in which consumers are free to choose the songs they want to listen to and organise them into playlists, Guvera #Play only allows playback of the preselected songs based on the hashtags presented by the app.

The tags on the #Play menu are based not only on music genre but also on events, artists, emotions, and even moods. For example, if someone were to choose the #90s tag, Guvera #Play will then fetch and play back songs from the 90s that it has i its catalog.

Streaming radio service like Guvera #Play are also available from other providers such as Deezer with Deezer Flow, Rdio, iTunes Radio (only available for US Apple ID holders), and Nokia Mix Radio. Locally, there's Ohdio.

Millions of songs provided by Guvera can be enjoyed via its web app or mobile app, which is available for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone.
