Smartfren Eyes 1.5 Million 4G/LTE Activation
For the next few days (August 1-9, 2015), Smartfren will conduct a trial of 4G/LTE in areas around Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE). After entering the commercial period, Smartfren expects to net 1,5 million 4G customers. Besides conducting a trial, Smartfren also partners with Kodam iV Diponegoro by launching SiPINTER app for Babinsa.
“Indonesia Convention Exhibition is one of proper locations for a trial. We will also do a drive test in Jakarta and Serpong, where the National Creative Meetup is held,” said Smartfren’s Director Roberto Saputra.
The trial isn’t only conducted in Jakarta, but also in Surabaya and Malang. Saputra added that in a few weeks time, Smartfren’s 4G/LTE service will be commercially available, but they first want to make sure that the connection is perfectly available as well. The target is to have 1,5 million Andromax 4G package activation.
Smartfren is currently the only operator who has yet launched any 4G/LTE service in Jakarta, due to its network-first strategy.
Saputra further explained that Andromax will remain to be Smartfren’s flagship in 4G/LTE technology. In this case, Smartfren has launched three series, namely Andromax R, Andromax Q, and Andromax E, which are offered at affordable rate. The only thing left to do is to educate users and prepare the network.
One of Smartfren’s attempts is to establish a partnership with local content providers to show off their expertise in 4G/LTE.
SiPINTER launching
During the same event, Smartfren also introduced SiPINTER (Sistem Pelaporan dan Informasi Pembinaan Teritorial) which can be accessed by every Babinsa staff at Kodam IV Diponegoro through Andromax smartphone.
SiPINTER comes with a number of specific features that can support Kodam’s territorial tasks, such as being mobile tech-based (so that it is personally attached to each staff), the ability to detect staff’s position and movement, the ability to map the area’s potential, and being an alternative to direct and mass communication. The good thing is that all staff can utilize the features for free.
SiPINTER’s database is specifically placed in the most secure data center in Indonesia. With 24 hours of protection, it is also backed up in three distant server locations to mitigate the risks. The servicecan only be accessed through BABINSA-100, a special series of smartphone which is based on Andromax C3 dedicated for Kodam IV Diponegoro’s Babinsa.
