As written by e27, the three participants from Indonesia are the Sulis, Dwarapala and Ratimaya. Sulis – SusuListrik (electrical milk) is a high voltage electric shock milk pasteurization device that can kill bacteria in the milk without damaging the content of the milk. This technology can extend the life of milk. While Dwarapala is a hosted e-commerce solution service which provides facility for those who want to sell or own an online store in easy way. Ratimaya is a service that facilitates the local fashion brands – Indonesia, to sell their products online. Local fashion products include apparel, accessories and shoes.
Dwarapala had once participated in the Jakarta Ventures Night event organized by East Ventures some time ago. Dwarapala becomes one of the services, which to me, has a pretty good display design. Ratimaya is an interesting service, as well, as I mentioned that e-commerce service that is interesting to note in 2012 is the one that chooses a specific segment such as fashion and specialized in local brands only.
These three participants from Indonesia will compete with 70 other participants. There are 20 chosen participants for the semifinal round, selected from ‘I Dare’ business plan competition while 50 other participants are selected from MIT Entreprise Forum Pan Arab Region business plan competition.
As explained though email by Putra Sukardi from Ratimaya, they are proud and pleased to be able to represent Indonesia in this competition. Putra also said that Ratimaya will get a chance to meet with entrepreneurs from many countries, exchanging ideas about business and techology and explanding network. Sukardi explained that in the workshop, lectures are based on the importance of business planning, how to create a business plan, the importance of defining target market in business and how to obtain financing through capital venture.
This competition opens opportunities for entrepreneurs in technology to participate – those who have new technologies and promising companies to grow. In addition to cash prize, the organizing committee will also provides assitance – mentorship from succesaful entrepreneurs as well as giving network opportunities for the development of business strategy in the competition area and access to US market by sending employers to visit the country.
The selection of 20 semifinal result of the ‘I Dare’ business plan competition done by more than 100 experts from various fields, with some of the assessed factors include innovation, scalability and positive impact to the community. GIST itself is organized by CRDF and MIT Enterprise Forum Global and held for the firt time this year.
