Airing badminton competition Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 live for its debut

The live streaming app from Blibli.com called "BlibliPlay" is officially launched. In its debut, the on-demand video app is airing the badminton competition Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 live.

"The high usage of video streaming through the smartphone in Indonesia has made us optimistic to provide live streaming solution BlibliPlay. This app is available for free download on Google Playstore for Android user and App Store for iOS version," Blibli.com's SVP Trade Partnership, Lay Ridwan Gautama explained.

BlibliPlay is said as part of the company's commitment to strengthen its digital platform, along to manage productivity and efficiency in the digital era. Blibli.com users can access the app using their Blibli account.

BlibliPlay is to be further developed by airing more sports, movies, music, and entertainment, and many more educative contents.

Competing to provide live streaming

Earlier, Gojek has launched a similar app Go-Play for various movie and video content. It's a different app (like Go-Life), and currently available only for selected users. The other rival, Grab, has partnered up with Hooq to facilitate consumers for various access to entertainment.

Furthermore, the local company as MNC Group also interested in having the video-on-demand business. Last May, they announced to invest in iflix's follow-on funding. MNC to place some post-airing content in the channel for iflix users.

The market for video-on-demand is getting higher. It's also mentioned on the Brightcove research titled "The 2019 Asia OTT Research Report". Indonesia became one of the 9 countries for research objects - due to its characteristic that reflects Asia's market.

It is stated in the survey that the Indonesian population is eager to get various video subscriptions. Most are expecting more and specific content - VOD often has special content in its platform. Some are saving money for cable TV is more expensive.
