Coming Soon: Nokia Lumia Developer Day in Bandung

Between the 4th and 5th of February 2012, Bandung will be a battleground for developers who want to develop applications for Windows Phone.

Microsoft and Nokia are organizing "The Amazing Nokia Lumia Developer Day Event". 800 developers have been confirmed to participate and they would be coding for 24 hours. In the official announcement, this event is said to break MURI record (Indonesian Museum of Records).

The event will be held at Graha Manggala Siliwangi, Bandung. As a prize, 8 best applications would get Nokia Lumia 800 and all applications will be incorporated into Windows Phone Marketplace.

While the posters and flyers did not offer further details of the event, we got in touch with Firstman Marpaung (Nokia Developer Champion) - Windows Phone Developer Opportunity, for additional information which we have below.

Nokia Lumia isn't yet available in Indonesia. Some news said that the first two of the Lumia series will be available in the country next month. Is this part of Nokia's preparation to launch the phones locally? It could be. [The phones will be launched in Jakarta in two weeks - Ed]

Of course, apps have become an important part of smart phones, especially if it's aimed at the midrange and up, smartphones certainly should be able to do various activities in addition to basic functions. Perhaps even now for smart devices, apps have become a basic function.

When you look at Nokia's strategy with regards to developers, developer-centric events have become key in ensuring the availability of applications within the ecosystem. Additionally, having Indonesia listed in the application marketplace is another important box that needs to be ticked.

We look forward to seeing this developer event. I also will try to attend and see how enthusiastic the developers are in developing the applications for Windows Phone. The announcement at Nokia's community site can be seen here.

The following is further information we received from Firstman Marpaung (Nokia Developer Champion) - Windows Phone Developer Opportunity about the event.
