Flamingo Redesigned Its Website to Improve Visitor Experience

The month and a half old travel site Flamingo had just been revamped. The focus of the change is on the user experience in which visitors will be able to discover travel schedules based on the nearest or desired travel dates. Aside from that, Flamingo will also provide a live chat feature on the from page to let visitors discuss about travel packages with Flamingo representatives.

Flamingo CEO Bernardus Sumartok informed us about the new changes via email. An update was needed based on the feedback of visitors and customers to improve the comfort in exploring the site. According to him, the update covered four aspects, the front page, search, booking and live chat.

As mentioned earlier, the front page provided information of upcoming trips to facilitate a much easier discovery. The search feature was changed by displaying location and date of activity. According to Sumartok, the search feature is crucial since consumers need to find the travel package that meets their needs, including time and budget.

If a travel package is not found, visitors can fill up a form located on the sidebar to suggest the desired trip. Customer service will then contact the visitor to discuss about the available options.

The booking function has been made easier by displaying just a list of activity schedule so would-be travellers no longer need to seek out the next available trip. If there's no matching date range, visitors may also enter a special request for the expected time of travel.

The last part is about the live chat feature which Sumartok said is still currently in testing mode. He promised that customer service will act like a consultant who aims to assist travellers to find the right vacation option without being tied to a particular time period. The customer service officers will be using their real names and Sumartok himself said that he will spend one hour per day in this role to listen to customer requests and information.

Sumartok also said that there will be another update to the website shortly. I find this an attractive proposition since having a continuously updated means that consumers will be the service's primary testers.
