Indigo BestAppsID is a “24 hours non-stop” coding event which was held at Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga) Bandung on November 29-30, 2014. In total, there were more than 800 participants in 204 teams that are participating in the event, mostly came from main cities in Java and Bali. They joined the event to fight for Rp700 million total prize, a trip to Silicon Valley, and product publication at the BestAppsID marketplace.
“Telkom as a public telco is ready to support the growth of this industry, perticularly by encouraging local creative entrepreneurs to create and compete in events like this BestAppsID,” said Telkom’s Interim CEO Indra Utoyo.
The competition was divided into several categories, which are Social Media, Commerce, Personal Application, Business Solution, and Game & Content. To determine the winners, a number of criteria were applied. Those are: (1) The determination of user segmentation (2) Market size (3) Possible problems encountered by users (4) Offered solution (5) Telkom’s API (Application Programming Interface) implementation (6) User Experience, and (7) Possibility of Partnership with Telkom Group.
The competing participants had to get through a set of judges, which consist of Rizkan Candra (PT. Telkom’s Network & IT Solution Director), I Gusti Manik (Rocklife System), Andi Kristianto (Telkomsel’s Corporate Planning VP), and Calvin Kizana (PicMix’s Founder), to be awarded as winners.
After two stages of selection, BestAppsID crowned 10 platinum winners (1st to 10th position) who got awarded Rp 10 million and 14 gold winners who got awarded Rp 5 million.
Those twenty four selected teams are then eligible for the next stage. While the three best apps will be awarded Rp 60 million, 45 million, and 30 million respectively, the main attraction of this competition would remain the irresistible temptation of a trip to Silicon Valley award.
