id-byte Startup Hunt Finalists Announced

After two weeks of roadshow to four cities across Java in April, id-byte today announced the top three startups from each city which will earn the right to pitch at the main event which will take place between 11-13 June 2013. The twelve startups will receive three common prizes and will have been contacted by mail, or will be before the end of the week.

The roadshow to Surabaya, Bandung, Jogjakarta, and Jakarta were met by nearly 60 startups, each given five minutes to present to different sets of judges and were asked various questions regarding their capabilities, commitments, viability, and so on.

The chosen startups are not just those who have built popular services and apps over the past few years but also brand new ones that have yet been launched. The criteria for these startups to qualify are that the company or their products must not be older than three years, have made fewer than Rp 1 billion in annualized revenue, and have yet to receive funding.

Without further ado, here are the top startups of id-byte 2013:

Surabaya: Shoop, Elven Games, Keepo. Bandung: DreadOut Kidea, Inmoto.in Yogyakarta: Rumah Belajar, Gamelan DJ, Facetly Jakarta: Soccer Ticker, Gotcha, Printerous.

Some of these names may have been familiar to many people while others may haven't been heard before. Regardless, the judges have deemed these 12 startups to be worthy of going through to the main event and pitch in front of representatives from 500 Startups, local and international investors, seasoned entrepreneurs, and win the top prizes with a possibility of inclusion into the 500 Startups program.

Each of the finalists will receive Amazon Web Service training on 10 June as part of the id-byte workshops, $1,500 in AWS credits, and an exhibition booth to showcase their product at the id-byte conference.
