IndonesiaVirtual.com: Watch Indonesian Panorama in Virtual Reality 360° Photography
Last July, Amir discussed about the photography technology of Virtual Reality 360° (VR 360°) which can be adapted to startup. On the article, Amir gave two kinds of startup adopted the technology those are Smarta Indonesia and Android application of Urbanesia Bali.
Talking about Indonesian startup, lately there is a startup adopts VR 360° technology; IndonesiaVirtual.com which is one of the product of Smarta Indonesia. IndonesiaVirtual is collaborated with SendokGarpu.com, a food and restaurant portal and Weddingku.com, a portal about wedding information. Both of them have been discussed on DailySocial.
Cited from the article written by Amir: “From the free translation of Wikipedia, virtual reality work for computer-simulation environment in which it works as if people access it virtually through device or the condition where a computer really experienced to do or be in the real place."
When we open this site, on the first page the readers will be greeted by the panorama of Lengkuas Beach using the VR 360° technology. On the first page, there are also some panorama from many parts of the cities like Jakarta, Bandung, Bali, Samarinda, and Bangka Belitung archipelago.
May be this is one way to get the review about the place we want to visit by seeing the panorama 360° and to see the whole beauty of the place from certain point.
Besides showing the panorama from many interesting places in Indonesia, IndonesiaVirtual.com also gives chances to hotel, resort, museum, hospital, sport facilities, universities and event organizers to be pictured in this VR 360° technology.
Both IndonesiaVirtual.com and Smarta Indonesia present the panorama using VR 360° with Adobe Flash which needs quite large bandwith. Technically, there are some other ways to use Adobe Flash to show the VR 360° to reduce the bandwith needed. Based on my own experience, they can use HTML5 Canvas and WebGL.
At YKode#2 Meetup, Didiet Noor (@lynxluna) presented a new technology called WebGL. This is the improvement of programming language JavaScript which enable the 3D interactive on web browser. You may check the WebGL example here. In my opinion, it will be a good idea for IndonesiaVirtual and Smarta Indonesia to present VR 360° using WebGL.
