Industry Players Promotes Online Business In Indonesia
Some of online technology industry players in Indonesia decided to cooperate on a project called "Bisnis Lokal Go Online (Local Business Goes Online - eng)". They aimed to encourage the adoption of online business in Indonesia. The project was initiated by Google and it also took some key shareholders such as the Chamber of Commerce, PANDI (domain regulation body), Bakrie Connectivity, and US-based ecommerce site Multiply.
Some government institutions such as Ministry of Cooperatives & SME and the Ministry of Trade also participated, in support for the private sector.
As written on their official website, "our mission is to help business Indonesia and to take advantage of business opportunities offered via Internet. We are committed on helping business community in order to gain success in online world.". The good thing about this initiative is to give clear evidence and it isn't just an empty word. Bisnis Lokal Go Online provides: free and easily-updated website on user's preference (Google Pages); Co.id free domain for one year from PANDI; tips, ongoing training and AdWords trial.
We also get the information that Google will take the initiative ""Bisnis Lokal Go Online" at an event on January 11, 2012. It seems there will be several government officials who will be present at the event. Finally, there’s a concrete movement from private sector and government to promote online business in Indonesia. It's a good sign, right?
