Is Voice-Blogging the next big thing in Indonesia? BubbleMotion think so

The voice blogging company, BubbleMotion had a great success promoting their services in India and Japan, and recently struck a deal with Indonesian telco XL Axiata to bring voice blogging to Indonesia. Previously BubbleMotion seen significant traction in India with its deal with two of the biggest telco in India : Reliance Communications and Bharti Airtel.

India and Indonesia both have similarities in mobile and web adoption, in both countries mobile market is more promising than the web market although the behavior of how they're using the technology is totally different. Indonesia is one of the top users for Facebook and Twitter, but not so many people know that Indonesia is the 3rd most used language on Wordpress and both Blogger and Wordpress is on Indonesia's top ten most accessed website according to Alexa.

The trend of blogging in Indonesia has been decreasing, that's for sure, as most bloggers now abandoned their weblog and move to a much efficient services such as Twitter or other micro-blogging services. But on the other hand, more people are connected to the internet through their mobile devices, the phenomenal growth of mobile internet users is significant enough for BubbleMotion to start expanding their service to Indonesia.

New users can start using the service by calling 1 from their XL phone and start recording their voice, after that users can start adding friends or followers via SMS. The followers will receive SMS notifications whenever the users post a new voice blog and followers are encourage to listen via mobile phone. No information regarding the rate for users to use the service, but looks like it won't be too expensive as it will suit perfectly for mid-low market in both urban and rural area in Indonesia.

In Indonesia, the voice-blogging service is called XL Cuap and although the announcement went public last week, neither BubbleMotion or XL Axiata starts promoting the service to consumer in Indonesia. And just like in India, it's more likely for BubbleMotion to have a revenue sharing model with XL Axiata where users will be charged for airtime every time they use the voice blogging service.
