Jongla Lite Comes to Android and Firefox OS

Finnish messaging platform Jongla has never stopped attempting on having a breakthrough in Indonesia. After sealing the deal with XL Axiata last November, the company now has just released Jongla Lite, a new version of its flagship which only weighs 15% of its competitors’. The initial platforms to support this version would be Android and Firefox, before iOS and Windows Phone follow this coming March.

The size of Jongla Lite is only 2,7 MB, much less than the competitors. It may be a nice alternative to those with low-end smartphones and limited memory capacity.

Riku Salminen, Jongla’s CEO, commented, “Jongla Lite is our first innovation in 2015. It has been specially designed for Southeast Asian market, where we have developed a significant fanbase, especially in Indonesia in which we see a mouth-watering potential of demand for high quality messaging platform.”

“We believe that this new version will provide a better attraction than markets we’ve penetrated before, like Thailand and Indonesia, for users with low-end smartphones all around the world. We wish this second group and their parents will benefit from the low cost and, along with their growth, utilize the full version later on,” he continued.

It’s rational for Jongla to focus on Asia Pacific, as 70% of its users derive from this part of the world.

Salminen added, “We don’t hide our vision to be the best in APAC. We have produced the smaller version of our high quality product which fits the market and now, along with our new office, we’re in an ideal position to provide our costumers the local services and wisdom. We will later invest in more regional strategic partnership, new local offices and stickers that match this area’s objectives.”

To fund its expansion in the highly potential Asian market, Jongla sealed €3,4 mill from a Finnish investor.

“We are in the process of getting involved in investments which are designed to facilitate our product and marketing growth. I’m fully aware that we need to keep investing since this is a highly dynamic market; we need to keep innovating to define ourselves,” he concluded.
