Lamudi Seems to Acquire PropertyKita

Rocket Internet’s property marketplace Lamudi Indonesia is rumored to have quietly acquired a local service of the same segment, PropertyKita. If this is true, then it would the company’s first portfolio in Indonesia.

Lamudi was founded in Berlin by Kian Moini and Philipp Herman. The startups focuses on developing countries, and has entered 33 of them, including Indonesia. They entered Indonesia last year, on April 24, 2014 to be exact. Just like any other Rocket Internet’s companies, the ambition was to be the best player in the segment.

Under Steven Ghoos' leadership, Lamudi Indonesia shows a promising growth as the startup has gathered more than 120 thousand properties in 246 cities all over Indonesia. In term of product, Lamudi Indonesia has owned a mobile app which is compatible with Android and iOS as well as quarterly magazine Property Now which available at SCOOP, Google Books, or licensed coffee shop.

Lamudi Indonesia has established representative offices in four big cities in Indonesia: Jakarta, Bandung, Bali, and Surabaya, with more than 50 employees.

Meanwhile, PropertyKita seemed to be in a dormant period prior getting acquired. There’s practically been no news about the startup ever since being launched, which was done along with the writing competition themed “Rumahku, Impianku”.

The initial indication of the acquisition is seen from PropertyKita’s “About Us” page, which gets redirected to Lamudi Indonesia’s “About Us” page.

We’ll update the latest roll-outs coming with any confirmation from Lamudi Indonesia.
