MantelApp Released Their New Look and Features and Starts Applying Freemium Model

IdeaLounge, developer of MantelApp, released the new look for MantelApp.com. The collaborated application is now looking fresh with updated design element and some other changes related with user interface. Other than that, they also released new features and announced price for their service packages. MantelApp, also the winner of SparxUp Award 2010 provide facilities for those who need to work in the same time with their relations, colleagues, or client. They can do their collaborated work on the same place, delegating work, downloading files, and discussing or writing status of their work on progress.

Several new features released among others are: Group, providing facility for users to create group and categorized their collaborated work into more specific categories. For example, you can create special group for sales team, IT team, or creative team or other groups based on your qualification. Other feature is Privacy. It provides facility to users to set privacy for several facilities in MantelApp (ToDo, Project, Group). This way, users can manage their collaborated work based on their own qualification. For example, you can create Group of special team with only several chosen people as members and contents only available to group members. The next new feature is Inter Company Communication. This feature provides facility to company or organization who has become MantelApp users to communicate and collaborate with each other, to e.g work on a same project. Unfortunately, there still some bugs on several features. I tried to access ToDo feature from dashboard menu on the upper side, but an error showed up instead and I couldn’t create my ToDo list, on the other hand I encountered no problem using it from Dashboard Stream menu, and I could work on my list. Those three features and the website new look also come with freemium model now officially applied by MantelApp. They provide four packages. Personal, free service from MantelApp. Plus Package (Rp. 499.000/month). Gold (Rp. 999.999/month), and Platinum (Rp. 1.499.000/month). For paid package, a 30 days free trial available and each package will give you different number of users, created projects, groups, and file storage quota, and customized look for Platinum Package. The rates aren’t much different from similar facilities such as Basecamp from 37signals. Basecamp’s Plus package is $49/month with larger storage facility and number of projects. Basic Plan for $24/month with 15 projects and 5 GB quota facilities. MantelApp was covered on DailySocial last October, giving more or less 3 months time introduction for MantelApp users, especially before applying freemium model, officially applied this February. Like I’ve mentioned previously, I am a fan of productivity related application including collaborated work application (especially app from Indonesia), and always interested to see their development, especially when it comes to local market’s opinion. Freemium business model can indeed be one of monetization model applied by startup, as other alternative other than depending on advertisements. Freemium application can also become one of the things commonly used for application similar to MantelApp. Despite having to compete with variety of similar applications, MantelApp –targeting on local market (Indonesia)- still deserved observation. Other than its simple look focusing on collaborated work, the package’s application is another interesting to be observed. Will local users be interested in using MantelApp with their paid package?
