New Koprol is Coming Soon

The startup that once became the pride of Indonesian digital ecosystem  is coming back to life. The revival of Koprol, following the shutdown by Yahoo on August 28, is marked by its new revamped site -- still accessible from the old Koprol.com. There's no further update on the site yet, but anyone who would like to become beta tester for this new version of Koprol may tweet to @koprol by telling which town will he/she be representing to. The trademarks and domain names of Koprol is now, as expected, associated to Barito Labs, founded by three former Koprol co-founders.

The new Koprol will still be focusing about local community, citing its new tagline. It may be based on what had been planned for "Koprol 2.0" that we had posted earlier in May, but we haven't had any confirmation. At that time, Koprol should have had a relaunch for its new version, before it's disbanded by the dismissal of all Koprol personnel from Yahoo!'s payrolls.

When Yahoo! decided to return Koprol trademarks and domain names to the co-founders, hope arises that Koprol may eventually keep going. Still, the location based service environment has been changed since 2010 and Koprol needs to sneak a fresh idea to attract new traction. There are still many loyal supporters of Koprol waiting for the next big step, but it needs more than just millions of users to survive for the second time.
