Ngomik.com Released Premium Comics - Buy Using Your Phone Credits

Today Ngomik.com officially released the premium comics that can be purchased by comics fans directly from their site.

Ngomik.com is a service that facilitiate comic artists to display their works and read by comic lovers. Previously the viewer are able to read it for free, now in addition to their free comics, they’re also provide premium comics that can be purchased by comic lovers. Ngomik.com also provides various facilities to foster their community, such as the Mural features.

For premium comic, the mechanism that run by Ngomik.com is to undertake a selection from the comic artists submission, if submitted comics have passed the selection and quality standards of the editorial team, then this comic will be displayed and can be purchased by their readers. There are two payment mechanisms that can be selected, the first is deposit by making a transfer to Ngomik.com and the second is to cut credit facilities.

Here's an explanation from Ngomik.com about the above two payment facilities which I quoted from the official release:

Deposit by transferring to ngomik.com. After you completed the transfer process, user’s deposit balance will increase and can be used to buy premium comics.As for the purchasing process of premium comics by using credits, the user must first enter the mobile phone number (currently available only for Telkomsel). After that the user must verify by sending a sms 'ngomik ver' to 9296. Then the user will get a reply in the form of an activation code. Users then enter the activation code in his profile page in the website.Once a user phone number has been verified, user can buy premium comics and the credits will be truncated automatically. This mechanism is expected to be accepted in Indonesia market considering the large number of mobile phone users to facilitate the process of buying comics.

For revenue sharing, Ngomik.com divide it by 60:40 (60% for the comic artist and 40% for Ngomik.com), but the explanation via email, the division is done after deducting the costs of involving a third party, which means the income divided after deducting the cost from the operator. There may be a different portion between the distribution of deposits and cutting credits method, in addition to the portion of cutting credits distribution can be changed by special negotiation. Wisnu Manupraba from Ngomik.com said that comics artist can set their own selling price, starting from Rp 500 up to Rp 10.000.

Ngomik also provides dashboard facilitiy for comic artists who sell their comics, this dashboard will display data from comic sales that they upload and sell in Ngomik.com.

As I've written previously in DailySocial, this has indeed been prepared by Ngomik.com and certainly could be a source of revenue for them, even though the comic is quite cheap in price, about Rp. 1000, but in its development can be an opportunity in itself, especially if sold in large quantities and the issue of the comic was done on an ongoing basis (when this article been written, the highest sales is 159 comics with a price of 1000 rupiah).

In addition to releasing comics sales and payment systems, Ngomik.com also do some development on the features that have been around before, like the mural feature that now provide facilities for users to modify the appearance of their murals in the profile page by changing the background color or replace it with a particular image, other than that users could mention other users, like you can do on Twitter.

There are two publishers who joined in Ngomik.com, this cooperation between publisher and Ngomik has done through preview publisher feature, the two publishers who join are Gramedia (Koloni) and Mizan (Koin).

Along with some of these updates, mobile display Ngomik also having some improvement. Then how about purchasing comics via mobile devices? Ngomik.com explains that now, in addition to perfecting comics premium facility on the web, they will also make changes to the latest version for the mobile web.

The new facility from Ngomik.com who now has a 2.043 comics on their site and 5.623 active users is quite interesting. Now they have to provide best quality and interesting comics for sale.
