Ngomik.com’s New Features and Warm Welcome for Publishers

Ngomik.com’s new features are here! They have commenting system, and they even facilitate publishers who wish to cooperate with them.

Ngomik also (re-)renew their looks since the last time DailySocial wrote about them last October. Now they are using black as background, different layout (comic categories on the upper side with comic icons, and comics list on the lower side). They also change their logo, using wayang (traditional puppet) element for their conversation “balloon”.

As informed by email, several new feature released among others are, first, mural facility to publish comments. Using similar method as commenting method in Facebook, users can comment on each other’s posting directly.

The second one is embed facility. Now comic artists can embed their comics onto their websites for easy promotion. However Ngomik’s blog said it’s still not available for WordPress. The facility is also only available directly for free comics available at Ngomik.

The third one, is now in preparation, is facility for publishers who wish to give preview on comics they are going to publish. Ngomik announced that they now welcome every publishers who wish to cooperate with them and invite them to give preview on comics they are working on or going to publish. This facility will be very useful in getting inputs as market test aiming at comic fans.

Along with this publisher facility, Ngomik is also preparing online market as means to purchase their comics. These two facilities will enable Ngomik to spread market share and as means to monetize the website.

Other additional features are, help facility for new users who want to upload their comics (step by step how to), Sticky Comment for comics artist who want to put their favorite comments on top of the list, and Curators to work on comics quality in Ngomik.com.

Ngomik.com, winner of Indigo Fellowship 2010 award, has been doing some other changes since January 2011. They’ve deactivated premium account facilities and coin redeem with money. Their new appearance is now simpler on Category field (there’s only one category for each comic). Comic artists can chose which category they want to put their comic into.

Wisnu, Ngomik.com’s founder said the looks makeover and additional new features are part of Ngomik.com’s second iteration. He wants Ngomik to be more socialized. Wisnu also said that on the next iteration process they will be aiming at finding the way on how to make Ngomik.com generate more revenue for comics artists and publishers and add features for mobile application version.

Ngomik will have to be more social by adding several features and sociable looks makeover, to be able to maintain their relationship with readers and community. Hopefully those changes and addition can get positive feedbacks. As for myself, I think those indicate that their service is now ready to be used, at least compared to their previous appearances.

Let’s see how users respond on these new facilities. It will be interesting to see Ngomik’s strategy in preparing facility that will give revenue for comic artists. Because if this one works, it will attract more artists to upload their comics and can become one of monetizing strategy for Ngomik.com.
