Nokia DevStart Competition Winners: Manaya and Sajian Sedap NFC
Last Thursday, suWec held a meetup to celebrate its anniversary, the event also become the place to announce the winners of Nokia DevStart Competition Grand Final. This is also the celebration party of SuWec 2nd anniversary.
There are many communities attended the event, which held at Hotel JW Marriott Surabaya, “potong tumpeng” (local tradition of taking the top part of rice formed like cone and give the first cut to someone else) is also given symbolically for the community representatives, which I see as a form of relation from different communities that exist in the city of Surabaya into suWec.
After suWec meetup, there was the Grand Final of Nokia DevStart Competition. As reported by DailySocial some days ago, there were 10 finalists on the grand final. They competed to be the Best Local App and Best NFC App.
On the grand final, the 10 finalists which consist of Intip Buku NFC, Manaya (augmented reality), Movreak, Pemandu Wisata NFC (tourism information), Plantix (planes tickets information), Resep Nusantara (game), RTMC App (traffic information), Sajian Sedap NFC (recipes data base), Siap Bencana (disaster information), and Toresto NFC (culinary catalogue), presented their application to the juries that consist of Rama Mamuaya and Aulia Masna from DailySocial also Narenda Wicaksono from Nokia.
The finalists come from different cities like Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Bandung and Jakarta. They explained and demonstrated their application. Although not every presentation considers good, and there was a problem on presentation tools but the finalists are enthusiastic to struggle on their application to win this competition.
After presenting their applications, getting suggestion, criticism, and opinion from the juries, finally juries announced the winners for Nokia DevStart Competition. They are Manaya – Astria Nur Irfansyah for Best Local App category and Sajian Sedap NFC – Andri Yadi (Dycode) for Best NFC App category.
From the explanation at their presentation, Manaya is the augmented reality application that can be used to find some information by using mobile phone camera. This application reminds me to Layar application. Thus, we can point our camera then there will be certain dots to give information from certain chosen category. The development of this application is interesting although the implementation hasn’t succeeded yet, the development can emerge information for other source like Wikipedia.
In other hand, Sajian Sedap is an recipes data base application (more than 20.000 recipes) or as called by Andri as social cooking. This application is developed collaborated with Gramedia and now is available for varied platform. For now, its development is aimed for MeeGo. The interesting thing is that this application was adjusted to NFC platform to join this competition.
Users can do tap fot NFC tag then can be connected to the application. Another development is that it is integrated to NFC tag provided as promo program at mini/supermarket or other store, for example, what menu that is on Sajian Sedap needs ingredients which is on sale. Although Andri explained that this kind of technology will be able to be applied in few years later, it is interesting to follow the development.
However, the development and improvement of each application will be continued. We hope that if the N9-MeeGo has been launched, the application of the winners is ready for the users.
Manaya (Irfansyah), the winner of Best Local App got 75 million rupiah as the prize while Sajian Sedap NFC - Andri (DyCode) got 50 million rupiah.
Congratulation for the winner and for all finalist and other participants we hope you keep developing your application and making improvement.
See you in the next DevStart Competition and happy anniversary for SuWec. We wish you all keep giving contribution for startup development and digital world in Surabaya.
