Plasa.com CEO resigned, Ariadi Anaya steps in as interim CEO
This morning, a big announcement comes from a company who claims to be Indonesia's biggest e-commerce website,Plasa.com. Plasa's CEO Shinta Dhanuwardoyo is officially confirming the rumor about her resignation from the government-funded company as per Dec 1st 2010. Shinta has been responsible for growing Plasa.com from scratch into a e-commerce platform with 400.000 users on November 2010, together with Andi S Boediman who acts as Chief Innovation at Mojopia -the legal company behind Plasa.com
Before her official statement, rumor has been spreading about her departure and the dispute that happened almost exactly a year ago between Plasa.com management with their Board advisors. Although it seems unlikely for the board to oust Shinta only, that move should be applied to the whole executive team and not only her.
Shinta also announce that Ariadi Anaya (pictured on the right) - the current VP for Metra Holding which is one of the shareholder of Mojopia; to step in as interim CEO until the Board choose a permanent CEO at least Q1 2011. Anaya is solid business guy with vast experience working for tech companies like Conoco-Phillips and Smart Telecom, so in a way he's quite qualified to run the company (temporarily). This is definitely a major setback for Plasa.com, after previously trying really hard to gain awareness and developing features such as their cross-promotion deal with eBay and a technical-integration partnership with Microsoft.
Telkom - parent company of Plasa.com - as a government-owned company is well-known for its conventional way of thinking; just like most of government people do and doesn't really mix well with Shinta and her entrepreneurial and progressive way of thinking. Some rumor also state that Shinta and team doesn't show a good performance for the company; therefore forcing her to resign, although this rumor has no solid proof to support it.
