Review: Mad Warrior from Nightspade
Simultaneously with the launching of Stack The Stuff for Android, Nightspade also released a new game entitled Mad Warior. Mad Warior is created for iOS platform and has version for iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. The price is $0.99. At a glance, this game takes the local (Indonesian) nuance with music background and with the fighter’s costumes who are familiar for Indonesian.
How is the game? This game is the one that aimed only to kill the time. Different from Stack the Stuff which has levels, this game is endless. As a fighter, we can fight and kill the enemies as much as possible and avoid the obstacle and hope the jar we got will give good effects.
The only thing makes this game over is the death because of the lack of energy bar. The different approach done by Nightspade on this game is the tilt -shake the device left and right- to move the character instead of using hand touch. The only touch function on the game is the usage of “berserk” power after some combo to kill the enemies quickly.
There are three kinds of mode available. They are Endless Master, Combo Master, and Dodging Master. Dogding Master focuses on the challenge to avoid the obstacles on our way. Every time we touch the trunk or the stone, our energy bar will be reduced. Combo Master challenges us to do combo strikes to the enemies as much as possible, while Endless Master is the combination of both mentioned modes. If you can get good score, you can share it to your Facebook and Twitter account. For the mechanism to decide the Top Scorer, Mad Warrior use the system created by OpenFeint.
What are the experiences of playing this game? Honestly, it is not easy to play Mad Warrior with tilt in iPad. May be it will not as comfortable as playing it on iPhone. It is quite hard to move our fighter from left to right and vice versa in high speed. I still feel that this game will be more comfortable to play by touching. Besides that, I only kill the enemy without do much struggle. Moving to left and right does not give many remarkable experiences and seems to be just to spend the time.
For me, the graphic is still rough. It is quite surprising since the Stack the Stuff is made with good details. Is this game made in shorter timeframe with lower quality? The only thing that is good on this game is the curse or bless given when we run for the jar. There is one bless and six kinds of curse! With that comparison, you can be surprised with the curse you will get such as the up-side-down appearance or the ability to move the enemy but not yourself.
Over all, I think there are still many things to improve in order to make Mad Warrior gives better experiences and fun to play to kill the time.
