Tasterous Added 2 Technology Rockstar in Board of Directors
Tasterous, the most anticipated startup, launched by its founders Ronald Ishak and Deche Pangestu on Jakarta Ventures Night, Friday, March 18, 2011. Tasterous is a startup of photo sharing special for food lovers, where there will be a “food check-in” for its users. From here you probably can see who share the same taste of food, hang out, dining, and photo (of course) buddies.
Other than the launching, Ronald and Deche also announced the joining of two rockstar in technology industry especially in startup community as their Board of Directors. They are Selina Limman (CEO of Urbanesia) and also Ken Dean Lawadinata (CEO of Kaskus Networks), whose names are familiar to us especially if you are a constant reader of DailySocial.
Co-founder and Engineer, Deche Pangestu herself once worked with Selina in Urbanesia before leaving it and started Tasterous, so their relationship has a long history. Meanwhile Ken, Selina and Ronald are also long time friend and when Ronald showed them his plans for Tasterous, Selina and Ken were immediately smitten.
“Sure there are many apps with objective to share food photos. I know Deche has a particular interest in food. I was skeptical about this app cos I thought it was going to be something similar to other food photo sharing apps. But the food check-ins has a more solid concept that runs on top the photo sharing feature. I love the idea of finding out current trending food.”, said Selina in her email.
Below is Ken’s statement regarding his involvement with Tasterous :
Well apparently Ron’s a good friend of mine and I know that his vision is different than any other startups that I’ve met. Having him as the founder for Tasterous is one of the crucial selling points for me to join them, been wanting to collaborate with him all this time. His understanding in internet users’ needs and behavior is rare amongst the internet players in Indonesia. Secondly the technology and concept of the product itself is great, very different than the startups that I’ve met. It’s fresh, and they aim big. They have great team and there’s not much convincing was done. I was sold as soon as I saw the product.
