Telin Singapore Acquired the Location for Its Telecommunication and Data Center
One of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia’s (Telkom) subsidiaries, Telekomunikasi Indonesia International Pte Ltd (Telin Singapore), has just sealed an area plot at the Data Center Park (DCP) in Singapore. The plot is planned to be turned into the company’s telecommunication and data center.
Telin Singapore will make use of 8.000 square meters area at the DCP to strengthen its infrastructure which may support its regional business and add more network expansion to fulfill global customers’ needs. The establishment of the data center, which is planned to be sized around 20.000 meters, is going to be started in 2015 and is expected to be finished by the end of 2016.
“Telin Singapore Data Center and Telecommunication Hub is one of most fundamental and strategic investments made by Telkom Group. This investment will lead Telkom Group to approach the future growth strategy through unlimited communication system and virtualization services. We are beyond proud to be the first company in Singapore that gets this facility through the DCP initiative from the government of Singapore,” Septika N. Widyasrini, Telin Singapore’s CEO, proudly stated.
To upgrade the speed as well as provide a low latency connectivity between Indonesia and Singapore, the data center will be connected directly to Indonesia via an underwater wiring system. It will also uphold the latest eco-friendly technology in order to accommodate the 2014 Singapore Green Data Centre Technology Roadmap. This innovative design is expected to fulfill the minimum standard of Tier-III and Tier-IV data center in order to pass the Uptime Institute’s certification process.
DCP is a result of a collaboration between Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), and Jurong Town Corporation (JTC). It is a part of Singapore’s attempts to strengthen its position as a port which may attract multinational corporations to expand their businesses in the country.
“In our vision to build the world’s first ‘smart nation’, data center plays a fundamental role in supporting the growth of digital economic, which covers the hosting for various activities, including the cloud computing adoption and data analysis,” said Khoong Hock Yun, the Data Centre Park Implementation Committee’s Chairman, in his release.
