Urbanesia Goes Android, Available on Nexian Journey
In spite of the rumor surrounding their dispute with Koprol regarding the partnership with Nexian, Urbanesia intent to focus on bringing the venue review and social features on their Android app. Riding the wave of Nexian’s low-end targeted marketing effort, Urbanesia expect to gain more market share and new users from middle-low slice.
One thing’s intriguing about this strategy of theirs, Nexian is famous for it’s low-end and cheap handsets. They even rolled a very low price for their highly-advertised Android device, Journey. But this will only work for selling to middle-low target market, mostly lives outside Jakarta while currently Urbanesia only support Jakarta. This irony will somehow affect Urbanesia’s adoption growth supported by massive app distribution deal with Nexian.
Nexian itself now trying hard to attract more and more developers to submit their app to get a chance to be bundled at Nexian’s devices who currently own 25% market share in Indonesia. Huge user base of course got developers drooling and racing to get their app submitted where similar to Apple’s App Store, they can actually make loads of money from their apps.
