Viber Launches Its Latest BlackBerry App, Now Supports Bahasa Indonesia

More and more mobile communication companies enter Indonesia. Viber, which is based in Cyprus recently launched the latest version for their BlackBerry app and adds support for its Indonesian users by adding Indonesian interface to the app. DailySocial had the opportunity to talk to Talmon Marco, CEO of Viber a few months ago on Viber's commitment and strategic views on Indonesia.

Viber's latest BlackBerry app is not yet available for download at the time of this post, but it will be ready for public download in the next 24 hours and Marco said that it's a concrete form of Viber's commitment for its Indonesian users where BlackBerry still have a significant market share. “Our continued support for the community of Viber users on the platform goes hand-in-hand with our efforts to reach the broadest possible audience of users around the world", Marco said in an official press release.

Indonesia has been the target of many mobile communication companies similar to Viber and it's clear that all of these companies are going into a very heated battle to gain market share, and also consumer's top-of-mind when it comes to mobile messaging. Their marketing strategy also differs from each other, which makes it interesting to see how Viber will compete with other players in the similar vertical who has been around long before.

The decision to choose BlackBerry is also unique because although the company BlackBerry is somewhat troubled, their market share especially in Indonesia is still very significant. “BlackBerry is the third largest mobile user base for Viber and is an integral part of our strategy to reach users of multiple platforms”, Marco said in a statement.

Of course at the end of the day, the product and the users will decide, and so far Marco expresses his confidence when it comes to their competition with other players. "We believe that Viber is way better compared to our competitors from the User Experience perspective we have to offer. Our current focus is to give the best experience to our users", Marco said to DailySocial in an interview a few months ago.
