XL Axiata Users May Purchase at Google Play Using Carrier Billing
PT XL Axiata finally released carrier billing service now that they may ease XL and AXIS customers who own Android smartphone in purchasing digital content at Google Play using their phone credit.
XL’s Chief Digital Service Officer Yessie D. Yosetya stated in her press release:
“More than 50 percent of the total XL’s data customers are Android users. This service allows us to keep finding new innovation that can optimize our services to the customers. We’ll keep doing the same thing to all customers so that they can shop at digital stores much easier. I’m pretty sure that we can do many things to improve our service quality for customers through such digital solutions.”
Within its development, XL partnered with Bango, a mobile payment platform for digital content. XL has previously launched a purchasing system through carrier billing method for BlackBerry App World, BBM Shop, Windows Phone Store, Gudang Aplikasi, Line Webstore, and game voucher purchase.
For this carrier billing, XL charge 10% of VAT and 2% of service cost towards the value of the app or content available at Google Play.
There’ve been more than 28 million XL’s data customers to the date, more than half of the whole XL’s customers. Meanwhile 17,2 million smartphone users use XL. Although they’re considerably late in providing the carrier billing service, compared to Indosat and Telkomsel, XL are positive that the innovation will encourage a significant business growth, given the fact that Indonesian smartphone users are quite consumptive in nature.
To ensure the quality of their data and internet services, XL have also transformed their network in order to create faster and more stable access. XL now own more than 30 thousand km optic fiber infrastructure network, as well as more than 52 thousand BTS (4G/3G/2G) which are spread all over Indonesia.
