GrabTaxi May Expand Its Services to Main Cities in Indonesia

Nowadays, crimes on taxi is not something uncommon. Responding to that fact, GrabTaxi published their #TaxiAman campaign yesterday (21/1) to promote safety on taxi. Further, GrabTaxi, which is also currently conducting a market research, didn’t shut the possibilities of expanding its business to other four main cities in Indonesia.

GrabTaxi Indonesia’s Head of Marketing Kiki Rizki stated, “We designed the #TaxiAman campaign because we do concern about the mushrooming crimes on taxi, though the number has yet been as worrying as in other countries, but it’s still an alarm to us.”

The campaign has been carried on since January 15, 2015 and will be ended on April 2015. During the campaign period, GrabTaxi will provide a number of services and programs, say like Special Promo Codes, Articles, Tips, Female Defense Class, Road Show, and public service announcements about safety on taxi.

Actually, GrabTaxi has always tried to attach safety to their customers through several regular features like My Driver Identity (which provides customers with identity of the drivers and cars), Track My Driver (which displays the position of drivers who are about to pick costumers up), and Share My Ride (which allows customers to share the identity of taxi they’re on to their relatives on a real-time basis).

The taxi service provider also always makes sure that the drivers they hire are legally permitted to drive. They will have to get through the 360 degree evaluation screening process which is done both administratively and through field surveys.

“The screening process will be on for at least two weeks. We call it the 360 degree evaluation. First, we talk to the supervisor, then check their track record by, say, asking to their relatives, and ask for a letter of good conduct,” Rizki said.

She also declared that GrabTaxi is currently conducting a market research in several main cities in Indonesia, in order to find out which city needs GrabTaxi’s services the most.
