Breaking: Blibli.com is Ready to Launch

The E-commerce market in Indonesia will be having a new competitor, serious one. The "threat" is identified as Blibli (buy and buy, an iteration if translated from native Indonesian). The site is yet to launch in less than 1 day and 3 minutes, according to the countdown as I visited. Blibli is owned by PT Global Digital Niaga, another subsidiary of technology arm of Djarum Group. Their sibling, Global Digital Prima (GDP) Venture injected undisclosed amount of funding to Kaskus that create hype on Indonesian startup world.

Also, it's not unusual to find BCA banner in frontpage as they share common ownership. Fortunately, you can dismiss the ads by clicking the down arrow. Blibli currently still holds the beta signage, although it is explicitly crafted that the current version is 3.2.

The first impression is "wow". To be honest, objectively I would say the User Interface itself is one of the neatest coming from local companies. Before launching, Blibli has already made agreement with approximately 46 merchants, some of them are already famous. Such achievement for not-yet-launched e-commerce site. Blibli has been in stealth mode since 2010, working patiently, while Tokopedia, Tokobagus, Juale, Plasa, and now Rakuten-MNC are in fierce battle with more conventional online stores -- those who are using Facebook, Multiply, or even FJB Kaskus to offer the products.

Blibli offers facility of online payment processing. Other than klikBCA and Mandiri Internet Banking, they also accept payment using credit card (Visa and MasterCard) and the possibility on paying to virtual account (eligible for BCA and Mandiri customers only). If you want to know further about virtual account, you can read at this page.

Moreover, I am also interested on their way of using Twitter as marketing tool. They create persona, there are six of them, that represent characters of Blibli's customers. They are Mr Gadget, Mr Gentlemen, Mr Spatula, Ms Stylish, Ms Belle and Mrs Happymom. Looking forward how these representations help Blibli identify what customers really need.

Stay tune while we dig for more.

Disclosure: DailySocial and PT Global Digital Niaga, owner of Blibli, in a very complicated way is under the same investment parent company.
