Local Startups Maneuver on Instagram Ads

Indonesia becomes the marketing target of over the top (OTT) players due to the massive potential it possesses. After Facebook and Twitter, Instagram currently leads the local advertising market that numerous startups in Indonesia reportedly plan on utilizing its services.
Accroding to a data by Nielsen Mobile Netview, one of five minutes spent by mobile users to access Instagram and Facebook. It indicates that advertisers and users need a way to know more, see more or purchase their favorite products from nearby restaurants.
As per September 9, 2015, Instagram provides new features, including action-oriented ads format, landscape photos and videos as well as their capability of reaching the right audience and using Facebook’s proven advertising technology.
This Instagram Ads service reportedly targets advertisers in both large and small scale. Startups that play in local industry, especially those who often do digital and conventional campaigns like Traveloka, Lazada, and Zalora, will surely apply the feature in their services pretty soon. It looks like other players in local telecommunication and technology industry like Indosat and Intel Indonesia don’t want to lose the momentum as well.
“Starting this month, various businesses in Indonesia will have a new option to communicate their creativity and reach their target market on Instagram. Users come to Instagram for visual inspiration and we are really glad to offer a solution that adds more value to local businesses and Instagram communities,” Instagram APAC’s Brand Development Lead Paul Webster stated in the release we received.
Instagram will also introduce ads in more than 30 countries, and make it globally accessible by the end of this year.
