Moka Appointed Ingenico Group Indonesia as Its Payment Server

This morning, Moka, a point-of-sale startup which serves POS and end-to-end solution for SMEs, announced that it has appointed Ingenico Group Indonesia, an EDC (Electronic Draft Capture) provider that supplies banks like BCA, Mandiri, and BNI, to be its payment server. This is the startup’s first move after sealing a seed funding from East Ventures.

The partnership is aimed to integrate Ingenico Group’s payment system to Moka’s POS.

“Ingenico Group excels in payment. Globally, they have installed more than 20 million terminals and partnered with more than 1.000 banks. By this partnership, we may focus on creating the best experience for POS users, and giving a secure and convenient payment solution to our costumers,” Moka’s Co-Founder and CEO Haryanto Tanjo mentioned.

Meity Daniel, Ingenico Group Indonesia’s Head of Business Development stated in her release that customers will be able to pay via Ingenico ICMP (Ingenico mobile EDC) by using their smartphone or tablet. They only have to integrate the MPOS system to scanner or thermal printer and Moka’s backend system. “With that Moka’s POS, merchants may have a direct access to business data through the most selling online dashboard.”

Moka puts a flat tariff of Rp 250 thousand per month for its services. Prior to the partnership, it expects to take a sum from each and every transaction. “The total retail transaction in Indonesia reached USD 150 billion in 2012, and keeps growing by 15% per year. However, the cashless payment-based transaction only contributes to 30% of the total figure. There is a big opportunity for cashless transaction to grow, especially after the Bank of Indonesia encourages the establishment of cashless community,” Tanjo continued.

Moka also announced that the platform is now available in open beta. The platform has enjoyed three pilot users, and is now accepting more beta users. To sign up, users have to send an e-mail to Moka to ask for a link to its iPad app, which will be available at AppStore in January next year. Moka also plans to expand to Android and iOS to meet the market’s demand.
