To make startup ecosystem have synergy with academic industry
Today (10/25), BLOCK71 officially launched its expansion to Bandung and Yogyakarta. The mission is similar, to support ecosystem development of local startups. As known before, BLOCK71 is an initiative from NUS Enterprise - National University of Singapore's entrepreneurial division - with Salim Group.
In Yogyakarta, BLOCK71 is located on Jalan Prof. Dr. Herman Yohanes No.1212, Terban. In Bandung, BLOCK71 building is located in Jalan H. Juanda No. 108, Labak Gede.
In his speech, Mohamed Salim as representation from Salim Group said the company will fully support BLOCK71 activities. He expects the entrepreneur space can encourage idea exchanges and collaborations, particularly the current BLOCK71 network in Singapore, San Fransisco, Souzhou, Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta.
Salim also mentioned, Yogyakarta and Bandung are selected for a reason. Both are considered as sources of creative minds to steer the startup industry. Buildings are also selected because of its strategic locations near campuses.
Tang Eng Chye, NUS Enterprise's President said in his speech that this expansion goes along the development and local entrepreneurial spirit. Collectively, BLOCK71 Singapore and Indonesia will facilitate information exchange for stronger connectivity and encourage startup ecosystem development.
Take a role as local startups' ecosystem builder
Startup players in Bandung and Yogyakarta can use incubation and other entrepreneurial initiatives. There will be many scheduled activities, such as business competition, conference, idea validation, and networking. BLOCK71 members in both cities will soon be given access to connect with members from other locations, aiming to open access to the International market.
Aside from particular collaboration with startups, BLOCK71 in Yogyakarta and Bandung will establish a strategic partnership with campuses in the relevant areas. It's to create an opportunity for collaboration between students and businessman. This strategy is considered effective, because of one issue often encountered by players regarding the competent human resource.
