Two Days to International Space Apps Challenge

International Space Apps Challenge 2013 is two days away and we're excited to announce that we've shot past 100 registered participants from several different cities across Indonesia. As a result, we're working on getting two other cities to host as our satellite venues for this weekend.

For this second Space Apps Challenge held in Jakarta, the event will again kick off at @america, the American cultural center and performance space at Pacific Place shopping center in central Jakarta at 10:00 a.m on Saturday. Following the opening remarks and video conference at @america with event lead Alicia Llewellyn of NASA's Johnson Space Center we will transfer to Freeware in Cilandak where we'll have lunch and begin working on the solutions to the challenges presented on the Space Apps Challenge website.

Everyone will remain at Freeware throughout the event (yes, we'll all be staying over at Freeware) until after lunch time on Sunday. We'll then head back to @america for project submissions and judging session. Everyone who manages to complete the core of their projects will be expected to present their solutions on Sunday afternoon. We will then select the top two to be submitted to the global challenge.

At this point we want to inform everyone that all participants have until 1 May 2013 to finalize their projects, upload them to Github, create a video presentation, and link to them on the project page at the Space Apps Challenge website. We'll let you know how to create a project page as soon as we all arrive at Freeware on Saturday.

Those who are registered but not able to attend the Space Apps Challenge venue in Jakarta, we have two alternative venues, one in Bandung and another in Surabaya, courtesy of developer communities, FOWAB in Bandung and SUWEC in Surabaya. At the moment we are still finalizing the satellite venues so we'll inform you as soon as we can.

We'd like to thank Smartfren for sponsoring this year's Space Apps Challenge in Jakarta, the US Embassy and Freeware for providing the venues, Cititrans as our transportation partner, and FOWAB and SUWEC as our developer community partners in Bandung and Surabaya. We can't wait to see what will come out of this year's Space Apps Challenge!
